Michael D. Corso, CEO • Principal
Michael is the co-founder of Sakonnet Capital Partners. He is also the founder and principal of Kingston Capital, Reel Capital, Preservation Credit Fund and Chestnut Fund, L.P. located in Providence, Rhode Island. Preservation Credit Fund and Reel Capital are consulting firms focused on structuring transactions for tax-advantaged projects and work closely with developers, production companies and advisors to maximize tax credit benefits, advise on tax credit issues and provide syndication services. Michael has closed over $200MM in tax credits.
The Chestnut Fund, LP, which is managed by Kingston Capital, was formed to make direct equity investments in historic rehabilitation projects that generate federal and state historic tax credits. Sakonnet Capital Partners is a joint venture between Reel Capital and Tax Credit Finance that was formed in 2009 to serve as a domestic and international bridge loan facility for motion picture production tax credits/rebates. It is one of the nation’s leading lenders and syndicators in the field. Michael was also the primary draftsperson of the Rhode Island Historic Preservation Tax Credit Program and is viewed as a tax incentive expert in the industry as he works closely with State government and the development community on the benefits of tax programs, potential revisions to programs and revision impacts.
Michael previously served as General Counsel for Cornish Associates, L.P., a Chace family real estate development firm, for approximately 12 years where he oversaw legal aspects, tax credit structuring and operations of the company. Michael is a licensed attorney in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
